Things to Do in London

July is a fabulous time to be in London. British Summer is in full swing and you have one of the longest days of the year to make the most of the sunshine. We have rounded up some of the best things to do in London and restaurants to try. Enjoy the strawberry and cream!

Culture Events in London

Serpentine Gallery Pavilion

Each year, the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion opens at the end of June to reveal a temporary structure that is made for all to enjoy. This year, the 2017 pavilion is designed by African architect Diébédo Francis Kéré, and features a roof that mimics a tree canopy and a central waterfall during those heavy British summer rainstorms. The structure will also look differently at night, as the wooden walls become a source of illumination.

While we were there, we checked out the Serpentine Gallery, which I highly recommend. The current exhibition is the “Grayson Perry: The Most Popular Art Exhibition Ever!“, you’ll find interesting pieces that include a glazed vase of Theresa May and Donald Trump, and many others in reference to the current cultural landscape.

Wimbledon Tennis Championships

For all of the fans of this popular racket sport, Wimbledon will take place from 3 July to 16th July at the All England Lawn Tennis Club. As one of the oldest tennis tournaments in the world, Wimbledon’s exciting matches on grassy green courts, mixed with the free flowing Pimms and strawberry cream makes it one of my favorite British experience in London.

Somerset House Summer Series

Mixing the grand eighteenth-century architecture backdrop with a festival open-air stage, the world-class line-up of Somerset House Summer Series includes some of my favourites such as Birdy, Goldfrapp, the Cinematic Orchestra and Norah Jones. What better way to enjoy a Summer’s evening than to dance the night away in one of London’s most iconic landmarks?

Ride London

As someone who loves bike riding in London except the heavy traffic, Ride London days are one of my most treasured memories. On this day, the traffic in central London is shut for one day for leisure cyclists to wander as they wish through some of the London’s most famous landmarks. Our tip is to start early in the day as the afternoon often gets very congested with bicycle traffic!

Favourite Restaurants of the Month

Cambio de Tercio

Simply one of my favourite traditional Spanish tapas with a modern twist, Cambio de Tercio surprises me every time I make a new visit. It feels like as if I’m coming back to visit an old friend every time I sat down in its sleek interior. Dishes such as spicy patatas bravas are reimagined with a round spring roll like texture that explodes in your mouth, filled with flavours of aioli and tomatos.

Appropriately named after the petite luxury hotel, Henrietta features a menu in season with spring vegetables and flowers, filled with herbs and doesn’t compromise on its flavours. The townhouse establishment has sky-lit mezzanine that provides a conservatory feel, a lovely spot for a Summer weekend lunch.

Millie’s Lounge

As a lover of seafood I have to confess that my first encounter with Mille’s Lounge started with the Sunday’s Feast, a brunch eating ritual for those looking to have a food coma session shortly after the meal. There were bowls of fresh oysters, platters of half lobsters, shells on prawns, and smoked salmon. For meat lovers, there are roasted poussins, ribs of beef with an assortment of trimmings and puddings. This is only one of seven restaurants situated within the Ned, the latest membership club opened by the Soho House Group. Booking early and ahead is very essential.
