After being in London during Winter for quite a few years, you will know when it is time…for Christmas!
As soon as 1st December rolls around, the Christmas decorations appear like magic across office building lobbies, shopping malls, and major London train stations. It’s almost too perfectly timed. But I welcome this nevertheless. It’s the little girl in me that always gets the Christmas bug around this time of year!
My first Christmas in London a few years back was difficult. I remember being homesick, Skyped my parents and NYC friends excessively on Christmas Day. Change is hard, but I’m glad I stayed and made the most of this beautiful city.
So in the spirit of sharing, I made a little mini list of things to do in London this Christmas.
Great for those of you spending your first Christmas here or if you are just looking to get into the festive spirits with me! <3
Christmas Lights in London
South Molton Street (tucked behind Bond Street Station) – Every time I walk down these archways of lit up fairy lights, they always made my heart flutter. ????
Bond Street – These peacock feather lights are a must see as it’s in my opinion the prettiest lights in London at the moment.
Covent Garden – This little piazza never disappoints with its yearly fanfare of Christmas decorations. Just look at this year’s Christmas baubles!
Carnaby Street is looking particularly bright with the large baubles and stars lighting up the grey London sky.
Christmas Trees in London
Claridges Hotel – In the lobby, Claridges always team up with a designer to create its iconic non-traditional trees. This year it’s Burberry with it’s 70,000 lights and silver and gold umbrellas! And of course, the nutcrackers adorn the front of Claridges as they welcome you inside.

Ice Skating Like a Local
Somerset House – This year Somerset House collaborated with Fortum and Mason to create another year of beautiful memories on ice. There are even little tiny F&M hampers hanging from the Christmas tree! The Christmas shop in the right entrance is stocked with tea, gifts and chocolates to take home.
Christmas shopping
Fortum and Mason in Piccadilly – Spread over several floors, this 18th century department store is one of my person favourites to buy sweets and teas during Christmas. There is also a tea salon where you can sip English tea while taking a bite out of creamy scones.
What are your favourite Christmas spots in London? ????
great photos!
Thanks Tanja! Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂 Where are you spending Christmas this year?
at home:) Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you too Tanja!
I love the ice rinks at this time of year, though this time it’s so warm that they’ve had to temporarily close them 😉
I know what you mean! I saw the ice melting heavily in front of the Natural History Museum, so they had to shut down the ice rink. Beautiful day but just too warm for this time of year.
Thanks lovely! I absolutely love this time of year as I never had a chance to celebrate it with parents (being from a Chinese background). It’s that little kid in me I suppose 🙂 Happy Holidays to you from London and lovely to e-meet you xx
